OpenAI defends itself in a lawsuit alleging that ChatGPT played a role in the suicide of a 16-year-old in California, stating in a recent court filing that the chatbot directed the teenager to seek help over 100 times. The case involves Adam Raine, whose family sued OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman in August, claiming ChatGPT provided instructions on self-harm, including tying a noose and composing a suicide note.
