SoftBank, Ericsson Japan, and Qualcomm Technologies have completed a field trial in Tokyo to test low-latency 5G and 5G advanced features, including low latency, low loss, and scalable throughput (L4S), on SoftBank’s 5G standalone commercial network. The companies trialed technologies such as L4S, configured uplink grant, and rate-controlled scheduling, which are standardized by 3GPP to stream XR content. The trial showed about a 90% drop in wireless link latency compared to networks not using these 5G features, the companies said. Music streaming platform Spotify has announced it is to label artificial intelligence-generated artists and remove them from its curated playlists. From mid-September, the platform's users will begin to see the AI Persona badge on accounts which do not represent a real artist, and music from those artists will be removed from "any editorial or algorithmic recommendations". Spotify said users may still see AI Persona artists in their own personal recommendations if they already follow artists in the category on the platform. It highlights document processing, data entry, minute-taking, and basic query handling as prime areas for automation. [Kaspersky](https://www.kaspersky.com/) detected and blocked 75 million attacks originating from online resources across Asia Pacific in the first half of 2026, including 250,000 ransomware incidents, 3.4 million backdoor attacks and 2.4 million password stealer attacks, according to new data from the company’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT). The healthcare sector in China was valued at about 480 billion yuan (US$69 billion) in 2025, according to research firm AskCI. Super Micro Computer said its independent directors hired a law firm to investigate the circumstances surrounding an indictment of two employees and a contractor over server sales to China that allegedly broke export rules. The US server maker said the committee has no timeline, and the company will provide an update when the probe ends. South Korea has launched a 150 trillion won (US$102 billion) fund to boost investment in high-tech sectors, including AI, semiconductors, batteries, biotech, energy, hydrogen, defense, vaccines, and robotics. The initiative, called the Public Growth Fund, combines government guarantees and private sector investment over the next five years. Ant Group is focusing on AI-driven healthcare to support its growth after scaling back plans following a failed IPO attempt. The healthcare sector in China was valued at about 480 billion yuan (US$69 billion) in 2025, according to research firm AskCI. The company aims to reach most of China’s 1.4 billion population with its health services within three years, elevating its health unit to the same level as its payments and lending operations. Chinese tech giant Alibaba said on May 13 that its Cloud Intelligence Group’s external revenue rose 40% year-on-year in the March quarter of fiscal year 2026. This comes as public cloud demand and sales of AI products increased, while group revenue for the quarter and full year each rose 11% on a like-for-like basis. SoftBank, Ericsson Japan, and Qualcomm Technologies have completed a field trial in Tokyo to test low-latency 5G and 5G advanced features, including low latency, low loss, and scalable throughput (L4S), on SoftBank’s 5G standalone commercial network.
