On 11 July, Hugging Face was subjected to an intense cyberattack from a then-unknown actor. By Eduardo Baptista BEIJING, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Chinese AI startup Z.ai said on Friday its open-source GLM-5.3 model had neared Anthropic's restricted Mythos 5 in identifying software vulnerabilities, bolstering the credentials of a Chinese AI challenger gaining ‌traction among Western developers. Z.ai said GLM-5.3 scored 84.5% on CyberGym, a test of whether a model can review code, ‌identify security flaws and confirm that they are real. That was slightly higher than the 83.8% it reported for Mythos 5. The results have not been independently ​verified. GLM-5.3 lagged behind Mythos 5 in converting discovered flaws into working attacks — a standard part of defensive security research. Advanced Micro Devices forecast second-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on strong demand for AI infrastructure, sending its shares up 12%. The US chipmaker projected revenue of about US$11.2 billion, plus or minus US$300 million, ahead of analysts’ expectations of US$10.52 billion. First-quarter revenue reached US$10.25 billion, beating estimates of US$9.89 billion, while adjusted earnings came in at US$1.37 per share. Data center revenue rose 57% to US$5.8 billion. The company also forecast adjusted gross margin of about 56% and said server CPU revenue would rise more than 70% year on year in the second quarter. Anthropic is testing whether Claude Code can handle daily maintenance of the company's own apps, from crash fuzzing to dead-code removal. SMBs from all industries are being hammered in today's threat landscape. Advanced Micro Devices forecast second-quarter revenue above Wall Street estimates on strong demand for AI infrastructure, sending its shares up 12%. The US chipmaker projected revenue of about US$11.2 billion, plus or minus US$300 million, ahead of analysts’ expectations of US$10.52 billion. First-quarter revenue reached US$10.25 billion, beating estimates of US$9.89 billion, while adjusted earnings came in at US$1.37 per share. Data center revenue rose 57% to US$5.8 billion. The company also forecast adjusted gross margin of about 56% and said server CPU revenue would rise more than 70% year on year in the second quarter. Chinese AI start-up ModelBest has kicked off its pre-initial public offering (IPO) tutoring process for a listing in mainland China, capitalising on growing demand for compact artificial intelligence models that run locally on devices like smartphones and laptops, and in cars. The four-year-old company also appears to be banking on its small-model strategy to overcome China’s acute shortage of advanced American computing chips by training lightweight systems optimised for domestic processors. Aurora Innovation and Kodiak AI, two companies developing self-driving trucks, have received permits from the California Department of Motor Vehicles to test their autonomous vehicle technology on public roads. Z.ai said GLM-5.3 scored 84.5% on CyberGym, a test of whether a model can review code, ‌identify security flaws and confirm that they are real. That was slightly higher than the 83.8% it reported for Mythos 5. The results have not been independently ​verified. GLM-5.3 lagged behind Mythos 5 in converting discovered flaws into working attacks — a standard part of defensive security research.
