AI identity governance is the enterprise security gap Malaysia hasn’t budgeted for. Non-human identities could outnumber human users 500 to one, and most organisations have no idea what’s already running inside their networks. Malaysian enterprises have spent the last few years deploying AI into their operations. What many haven’t done is ask what credentials those […] The post Malaysia’s AI rollout is outpacing identity security, ManageEngine warns appeared first on TechWire Asia .

Early numbers say the mechanism underlying the search for viable molecules is real IT IS the 19th century. You visit a young physician, Arnold Cahn, about a stubborn stomach complaint. The diagnosis: intestinal worms. His assistant returns from the pharmacy with a bottle of white powder. You swallow it. The worms are unmoved, but your fever breaks. You have just helped discover acetanilide, the fever drug that would lead chemists to paracetamol. And for most of history, breakthroughs like this arrived by luck. But with the rapid development of artificial intelligence in the last few years, scientific discovery in life science has been meaningfully changed for the better. For example, in 2020, DeepMind’s AlphaFold learnt to predict the three-dimensional shapes of proteins, a problem that ha

For a quarter century, the Google search box has been one of the most recognizable interfaces in computing: a thin white rectangle, a blinking cursor, a few typed words, and a list of blue links. On Tuesday, Google will formally retire that paradigm. At its annual I/O developer conference , Google announced a sweeping redesign of the search box itself — the literal text field where billions of queries begin every day — transforming it from a simple keyword input into a dynamic, AI-driven conversation starter that can accept text, images, PDFs, videos, and even open Chrome tabs as inputs. The company is also merging its AI Overviews and AI Mode features into a single, seamless search flow, eliminating the friction that previously forced users to choose between a traditional results page and

Railway , a San Francisco-based cloud platform that has quietly amassed two million developers without spending a dollar on marketing, announced Thursday that it raised $100 million in a Series B funding round, as surging demand for artificial intelligence applications exposes the limitations of legacy cloud infrastructure. TQ Ventures led the round, with participation from FPV Ventures , Redpoint , and Unusual Ventures . The investment values Railway as one of the most significant infrastructure startups to emerge during the AI boom, capitalizing on developer frustration with the complexity and cost of traditional platforms like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud . Most hospitals and health care providers use electronic health records instead of paper charts to note patient vaccinations, diagnoses, and procedures. AthenaOne , Epic , and Oracle Health are some of the systems employed around the world. Many patients can access their electronic medical records from home. The platforms exist thanks to pioneering efforts such as the Medical Information System (MIS-I). That promise includes an interactive summary of the day's news, along with a personalized digest of stories tailored to the user's interests. A free tool that strips AI watermarks from Claude's text appeared on GitHub within 24 hours of Anthropic's watermarking feature going live. Within days, several more showed up, targeting everything from invisible Unicode markers to the signed metadata Anthropic attaches to generated files. If AI watermarks can be defeated that easily, are they built to last, or just for show? That's the question worth asking as Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, Meta and OpenAI all move to mark their AI output, and it has a more useful answer than "yes" or "no." ## Why AI Watermarks Are Suddenly Everywhere Article 50 of the European Union's AI Act became applicable on August 2, 2026, requiring companies that build generative AI systems to mark their output in a machine-readable, detectable format. OpenAI is awarding grants to 14 projects led by independent organizations to promote economic opportunity and societal resilience as AI advances. A new £20m research hub is being established in Cambridge to help develop new medicines using artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced laboratory models. The site will be based at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Funded by the Medical Research Council, the hub will work with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). Researchers will use scientific models based on human tissues and diseases to improve the translation of lab-based research into new medicines. CUH said the hub would create "more accurate ways to study, predict and develop treatments for human diseases before they are trialled in patients". It would also further "efforts to reduce dependence on research involving animals". Professor Matthias Zilbauer, hub co-leader and hon

I’ve spoken with many organizations over the past few weeks, and one theme is clear: they know they need to fundamentally uplevel their cybersecurity practices with unprecedented speed. In this post, I’ll share what we’re doing to defend OpenAI, concrete steps other organizations can take today, and why now is the time to act. ## An overview of the moment AI models developed around the world are increasingly able to automate parts of real-world cyberattacks, making longstanding security gaps—from bugs buried deep in human-written software to

By Mike Stone WASHINGTON, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Smack Technologies, a defense-technology startup building artificial intelligence decision-making tools for the military, is raising funding to speed production of its flagship product and make wearable AI hardware designed for the battlefield. The $61 million Series B funding round comes months after the Defense Department declared Anthropic a "supply-chain risk" in March, a rupture that sent military branches scrambling to diversify their AI vendors and turned startups like Smack from afterthoughts into hot commodities. That Anthropic fallout led to Smack holding conversations in the spring with the Marine Corps and Navy, co-founder and CEO Andy Markoff said, with both branches of the armed forces pressing the company to speed production. Around 20 people made it known to the Scottish FA that they wanted to be considered to replace Steve Clarke as Scotland's new head coach. Not one of them was interviewed. Not because they weren't capable, but because the computer said no. The days of board members sifting through applicants and picking the best are long gone thanks to football analytics and AI. By Laurie Chen BEIJING, Aug 17 (Reuters) - AI and alcohol have three main similarities, according to Beijing bar owner Song De: hallucinations, bubbles and distillation. As AI enthusiasm sweeps across China, Song hopes his bar can ride the wave. He opened AGI Bar, named after the concept of artificial general intelligence where AI systems surpass human intelligence, last year in Zhongguancun, the capital's high-tech neighbourhood in Haidian district. It is now a hub for Beijing's AI developers, investors and students. "You'll see people sitting around a table coming from different labs, competing companies, and different universities, all chatting about industry trends right here," said Song, an independent AI developer in his thirties who runs the bar in his spare time. Computers don't choose coaches but they are playing a bigger part in the process than ever before. And so when Steve Clarke called time on his seven years in charge of Scotland, the SFA approached sporting intelligence company Twenty First Group for help. But before that, however, the bloc’s 11 member states are expected in November to sign the Digital Economy Framework Agreement (Defa), its first comprehensive, region-wide pact dedicated to the digital economy. Defa establishes common rules that facilitate digital trade, enable trusted cross-border data flows, and crucially, build enduring artificial intelligence capability across a region of more than 600 million people. But a framework carries only what its members can supply. Singapore has moved fast on AI adoption, and the numbers are genuinely strong.
